Ellijay Church of Christ

2008 Goals

January 6, 2008

Dear Family in Christ,

May each and every member of the Ellijay church family be more involved in the work of the congregation in 2008 than we were in 2007. May we all do more in the work of the Lord.

Paul said, Don’t you know that you are not your own. We were purchased for a price, we were baptized into Christ; as we came out of the water, we were not our own. We belong to Christ, therefore, we must act or do like Christ would act or do. Just one scripture states the 1st day of the week to come together, Acts 20:7. The New Testament tells us that Christ went to worship as was His custom. Do we believe He went to all the services possible for Him? Hebrews 10:25

Jesus told John to write it down, my family will need these words. Revelation 1:3NAS edition states, “Blessed is he who reads and hears the words of prophecy and heeds (or does) the things which are written in it: for the time is near”. Commitment is a practice we should be teaching our children as it should have been taught to us. How else can we be committed to God, our mates and children? God has given us everything. Let us be true to our commitment to Him. With this in mind, for 2008 may we as a congregation:

  • Encourage every member to be faithful to the Lord and to build a strong sense of belonging and “family,” by supporting and being involved in the work of the congregation.

  • Provide opportunities for every Christian to cultivate friendships in the kingdom, to come to know, love and trust each other and to fulfill the responsibilities to bear each other’s burdens.

  • Continue to convert precious souls to Christ and to restore souls back to faithful service in the Lord’s army and to share the gospel with others in the community.

  • Conduct a door knocking campaign in Ellijay prior to Revival with Jeff Wilder.

  • Support and attend the Summer Series each Wednesday night: “Following in the Steps of Jesus.”

  • Be enthusiastic in attendance for ALL services of the congregation and to God.

  • Continue to support the mission efforts in Highgate, Jamaica and participate in the annual campaign there and conduct a Youth VBS.

  • Continue to develop a meaningful education and youth program including a Summer Youth Intern, and encourage more youth and adults to be involved in the Lads and Leaderettes program.

  • Sponsor a congregational giveaway for the community.

  • Participate in the C.A.R.E. visitation program and assist with the requests of those in the community needing assistance.

  • Continue the building fund program in order to continue to grow numerically and spiritually and to grow spiritually mature so that we can be the most effective in role modeling God’s plan before others.
